Notes on dating Dated on the basis of reference to the second lustrum, during which the deceased was 'quinquennalis' of the guild of 'fabri tignuarii'. Since the guild was founded c. 58 CE, this provided a date post quem of c. 62 CE. The monument may have been built years later.

Translation
Lucius Aquilius Modestus, freedman of the wife, magister quinquennalis of the guild of carpenters/builders of Ostia during the second lustrum, likewise Augustalis, has made (this monument) for himself and Aquillia Apta, daughter of Lucius, his patrona and Decimia Prisca,  daughter of a spurious father, his wife, and their freedmen and freedwomen, and Decimia Prisca, daughter of a spurious father, and their off-spring. Eleven feet wide, thirty-one and a half feet deep.
