Translation |
To the God-Spirits of the Dead. Caius Similius Philocyrius, sevir Augustalis, likewise president also of the guild of carpenters/builders of Ostia during the 26th lustrum, likewise secretary of the same troop, has made this (monument) for himself and for Similia Philetis his wife, who has never had any other man (univira), and Similia Romana, his daughter and their freedmen and feedwomen and their offspring. Eighty feet at the front, twenty-three deep. For Gaudens (he who rejoices) and Lampas (he who brings light).

Notes on the source | The date range for the 36th lustrum lay between 233-241 CE. Philocyrius died during or after this lustrum, which provides a hard post quem date. The ante quem date here is estimated as the end of the lustrum-range plus 25 years, rounded to 265 CE. |
