| Notes on dating | There are no dating criteria in the inscription. The hard post quem date is provided by the creation of the 'collegium' between 58-62 CE. It was found under the floor of the 'caldarium' of the 'Terme del foro'. These were built towards the end of the reign of Antoninus Pius (c. 160 CE). There were major restaurations in the Severan period (193-217 CE) and in late Antiquity over the course of the fourth and fifth century. This inscription was probably recovered and reused during the Theodosian restaurations in the 380s CE (cf. SdOstia 11). |
