Standard text of source |
spirito benemeren[ti] Iusto magistro / fabrorum st<ruc=ENT>[ura]riorum / qui vixit an(nis) LXXXV in pạ[ce] ḍ(epositus) XI k(alendas) mar(tias) / ((spatula)) ((ascia)) ((circinus))
|
Translation | To the well-deserving Spirit, for Iustus, magister of the guild of craftsmen builders (structurarii) who has lived 85 years, laid down in peace on the eleventh day before the kalends of March. |
Notes on the source |
The reading is clear, but 'stenturarii' is a meaningless word. Antonio Ferrua therefore suggested correcting it to 'structurarii'. Compare for instance CIL 6, 444; AE 1937, 161 (structores Caesaris Romae) |
