AE 1989, 00124; CIL 14, 04656 Royden 1988: 65, no. 4; Tran 2006: 444-445 Magister quinquennalis of the 'collegium fabrum tignuariorum' of Ostia during the 17th 'lustrum' of the guild (in 1---8-146 CE, cf. AE 1989, 124; CIL 14, 4656). Anteros was almost certainly a freedman--not just in view of his 'augustalitas' and Greek name, but also because his wife, Livia Marcellina, was freedwoman (AE 1989, 124). D'Arms (1976: 402) suggests he may have a freedman of A. Livius Proculus, who was a 'duumvir' of Ostia in the later years of Hadrian. Nevertheless, he was clearly wealthy and influential, since he was also accepted as a member of the 'fabri navales' ('corporatus inter fabros navales). His son (?), A. Livius A. f. [---] was 'patron' of the 'fabri tignuarii' (see there). A daughter of Anteros married a P. Nonius. Their son P. Nonius P. f. Pal. Livius Anterotianus was made a 'eques romanus' by Marcus Aurelius. He was co-opted in the Ostian city-council and fulfilled several important priesthoods ('equo publ(ico) exornato ab / Imperatore M(arco) Aurelio Antonino Aug(usto) / dec(reto) dec(urionum) decur(ioni) adlecto / flamini divi Hadriani / salio Laurent(ium) Lavinatiu(m) / aedili pr(aetori) sacr(is) Vol<c=K>(ani) faci[u(ndis)]' CIL 14, ---90 ; ---91) |
