A prominent grain merchant and notable from Ostia, maybe originating from Hippo Regius in Africa, where he became 'decurio adlectus' in Hippo Regius. He was 'decurio adlectus' in Ostia, where he was five times 'quaestor aerarius', 'aedilis' and 'duumvir', and where he was nominated 'praefectus fabrum tignuariorum'. In 146 CE he was co-opted patron of the city of Ostia, which he celebrated with three days of games and a donation of two silver statuettes of Honos and Virtus. He was quinquennalis perpetuus of the 'corpus mensorum frumentariorum' and was co-opted patron of this guild and of the 'corpus urinatorum'; Tran 2006: 70, 26----264 ; Rohde 2012: 17----174; Broekaert 2016: 228-229 CIL 14, ---0--- P̲(ublio) A̲u̲f̲̲i̲dio P(ubli) f(ilio) Quirina / Forti / [d(ecurionum) d(ecreto)? decu]rioni adlecto, I̅I̅viro, / [quaesto]ri aerari Ostiensium I̅I̅I̅I̅, [praefe]cto fabrum / [tignuariorum] Ostis, patrono / corporum mensorum / frumentariorum / et urinatorum, decurioni adlecto / Africae Hippone Regio, / corpus mercatorum / frumentariorum / q(uin)q(uennali) perpetuo.
